Baby Foods

sick male guinea pig?

My guinea pig is either sick or is just old. He is 5 now and will be 6 in January. He started to not eat or drink and after a few days I started syringe feeding him. I gave him some orange juice and some pedialyte. Now he is eating a little but we are also giving him some baby food to help him get some food in his system. Today When i was feeding him he had something coming out of his pineus. Now I thought he was peeing so i but him back down on his blanket and thought he was done. So I continued to feed him ,and while I was doing this he jumped and snatched what I thought was pee before out of him and was going to eat it. I put him and had my mom come see what it was and she has no idea. I am worried about him just because he wasn’t feeling well. Does any one know what this might be. It was hard and you could tell that it came out of him. Thanks

Massive Israeli Aid to Gaza - Is It For Real? And if it is why is Al-Jazeerah not reporting it?

According to The Canada-Israel Committee did a fascinating analysis of the humanitarian aid to delivered to Gaza - and what it means in real terms for Gazans. Here's what the CIC concluded: Over one million tons of humanitarian supplies were delivered by Israel to the people of Gaza in the past 18 months – that’s equal to nearly one ton of aid for every man, woman and child in Gaza. In the first quarter of 2010 alone (January-March), Israel delivered 94,500 tons of supplies to Gaza. It’s very easy to miss what that actually means for the people of Gaza. The breakdown includes: * 40,000 tons of wheat – which is equal to 53 million loaves of bread; * 2,760 tons of rice – which equals 69 million servings; * 1,987 tons of clothes and footwear – the equivalent weight of 3.6 million pairs of jeans; and * 553 tons of milk powder and baby food – equivalent to over 3.1 million days of formula for an average six-month-old baby. This reflects a long-term effort on the part of Israel to deliver a massive and comprehensive supply of aid to Gaza’s civilians * During the Muslim holy days of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, Israel shipped some 11,000 head of cattle into Gaza – enough to provide 8.8 million meals of beef; * More than 3,000 tons of hypochlorite were delivered by Israel to Gaza for water purification purposes – that’s 60 billion gallons of purified water; and * Israel brought some 4,883 tons of medical equipment and medicine into Gaza – a weight equivalent to over 360,000 260-piece mobile trauma first aid kits. You can read more about this in the link below. http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/About+the+Ministry/Behind+the+Headlines/Israeli_humanitarian_lifeline_Gaza_25-May-2010.htm Here are my questions: 1. Is this a total fabrication? 2. If it is not a fabrication, why is the international press not acknowledging it? 3. Would it be in the interest of the Arab media, such as Al-Jazeerah, media in Muslim countries, and the anti-zionist leftist world press not to acknowledge it? Or do media sources such as this have a stellar track record in fair and honest reporting? 4. If there is Aid does this fly in the face of the charges of some people in this section, and the governments of countries like Turkey, that Israel is engaged in active genocide against the Palestinian people , and the people of Gaza? 5, Would it be fair to cut off all Aid to Gaza unless the government of Hamas agrees to release Gilad Shalit who was kidnapped in Israel proper four years ago? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilad_Shalit It is difficult to find independent verification of the aid. However, I do think it is out there or can be had. The international press, in my opinion, is more interested in promoting a very negative perception of Israel. It wold be wise for Israel to verify this aid, and then as it has been mentioned call an inquiry into why the international media is so biased against it.

more oto's or another option?

in my 20 gallon tank I currently have 3 oto's, 2 are newer and 1 was added from my 10 gallon tank, the 20 gallon tank was started the end of June and the 10 gallon was at christmas. I'm not sure if I need to add anymore oto's or do I need to try something else. Right now because the light for the tank is broken, it won't turn off now for some reason unless I unplug it. So the light is on all the time, that I know is not good. So the problem I'm having right now is that my oto's new and old don't seem to be eating the algae, I have black hairy type algae frowing on my live amazon swords, but every so often the platy start snacking on that as well as the oto's, but the algae growing on the tank walls, the oto's and platy snack on that occasionally, but it's starting to build up. In my 10 gallon tank upstairs I turn the light off during the day, it does not have direct sunlight. The 2 oto's I had in there cleaned up the black algae in that tank over the 3-4 days after I added them. I added the solo oto to the 20 gallon, one of the 2 I had in the 10 gallon about a month ago and none of them seem interested in eating the fresh algae. I throw in an algae disc every couple days because the platy adults and fry devour them and because the fry are in the 20 gallon the baby food doesn't sink down to them, gave up on that a while ago. I want enough algae to grow in my tank to support the life in there because it is healthy, but I don't want it to go crazy. The 20 gallon doesn't really get direct sunlight because it's in my living room opposite a south facing window, but it does get room light I guess you could say when the curtains are open. I like my little oto's and I know my tank is to small for a pleco, but do I need more oto's and if so, how many more? If not then what should I be doing differently? the water gets a 20-25% change every 7-10 days, but most often 7 days. The platies only get fed once a day and almost always it's eaten in a couple mins, if not the babies clean it up shortly after. Any suggestions? my water has never been cloudy except for when it was originally filled because it has a sand base, so even with a dish in there the sand when everywhere. I do water changes to keep the amonio levels in check, ya know, to keep the tank healthy. I let it go up to 10 days because of having live plants that keep it in check better. My fish are healthy, my tank is healthy as far as I know, it's just the algae. I want some, just not to let it take over. I don't put the discs in there for the oto's I put them in for the platy fry mostly to make sure they are getting enough to eat. Mine go from tiny eyeball specks to very visable fish in less than a week, so I must be doing something right. Everywhere I've read and been told to feed my fish daily, not multiple times a day and not alternate days. would you like to eat every other day/ probably not. either I forgot to say it or someone didn't read everything. My tank was cycled and everything had zeroed out before I added the 3 platy I had temp in my 10 gallon. I don't know if it's fast or not, but it took between 2 and 3 weeks. I used 5 gallons from my 10 gallon tank, not a usual water change amount for my 10 gallon, but needed to use a little more, plus when I changed the filter in the 10 gallon after more than a month, I threw that in the 20 gallon as well. There's an artificial plant in there for the platy fry that started showing up, but the rest of the tank is planted with 3 large amazon sword plants, still thinking about getting a couple more plants when I find what I want.
